The President of Democratic Republic of Congo, Félix Tshisekedi, received, on Tuesday June 28, his former chief of staff, Vital Kamerhe, in Kinshasa.
The two personalities are reunited after more than two years of separation due to the 100-day trial, at the end of which the former chief of staff and political ally of Félix Tshisekedi was acquitted on June 23.
Discussions continue between Felix Tshisekedi and Vital Kamerhe. The latter promised to speak at the end of this meeting, reports the presidential press.
According to the source, the two personalities greeted each other in a relaxed atmosphere. Smiling, the Head of State asked: “How are you, Vital?”. And the latter answered: “It’s the emotion, Mr. President”.
Vital Kamerhe promised to give his first interview to the presidential press, according to Radio Okapi.
The Kinshasa-Gombe Court of Appeal acquitted Vital Kamerhe on Thursday June 23 in the 100-day case.
The verdict on appeal in the case involving the former chief of staff of the Head of State and his co-defendants was made public after several postponements.
According to Hugues Pulusi Eka, one of Vital Kamerhe’s lawyers, the president of the Union for the Congolese Nation (UNC) was exonerated in the case of the alleged embezzlement of funds allocated to the emergency program of 100 days of the President of the Republic.
